HI!!!

Sat Sep 2, 2006, 4:01 PM
Hello and Welcome to Band Camp Fever.

We are a band nerd comic, inspired by Tales From Band Camp (you can visit it at [link] )

Here is a brief history of how BCF came to be:

I began my great cartooning adventure when I was eight. Growing up in rual North Carolina, art and music were the most exciting things to happen in my life. I attended numerous classical concerts, ballet and operas with my mom as a young child, and my dad took me to football games. I was facinated by these people who played such wonderful music, and vowed to understand why they chose to do that. I joined band for the first time in 2000, deciding to pick up flute as a wide eyed ten year old. Immediatly I was swept up in the magic of it, and I drew stick cartoons of orchestras, envisioning myself as the director of it all. Later that year, my family moved to suburban Central Texas, and I was forced to give up flute until I began middle school the next year. Every day after school, I could hear the high school marching band down the street practice, and I wanted nothing more than to grow up and join in on all that magic.
I started off playing flute in 5th grade before I moved, and continued to play until 8th grade. During my 8th grade year, the school began a color guard program, and I joined in a heartbeat. That same year, I attended my first high school football game, and I was hooked. The sheer excitement that radiated from the band in those stunning green and black uniforms was addictive, and I vowed to keep on going into high school, and keep on playing. I entered high school in the fall of 2004, having just made the biggest decision of my musical career; I traded in my flute for a flag. Still, marching on that field, listening as the band belted out the fight song was just as amazing as I envisioned it years ago.
In 2004, my mom and I discovered Tales From Band Camp, an band webcomic writen by Amy Brown. Her comics reinspired me to document my band nerd years once more; after all, band is a whole lot of fun. Band Camp Fever was drawn in German I and World Geography my freshman year, and German II and World History of my sophomore year. The comics ended up mainly on the guard room walls, but occasionally they made it to the band hall where people laughed about them.
Most of BCF's characters are based off of people I know in high school, and I plan to continue to create them until exciting things stop happening to me (probably when I'm dead).
Band Camp Fever officially recieved it's name in 2005, after much argument with myself. It's distributed currently by word of mouth, but I plan to photocopy and mass distribute them this year. Now it has it's own DeviantArt site.
BCF features a high school band, much like my own. It's evenly split between guard and band characters. As my fellow band geets began to ask about the characters, they developed their own personalities, and some of them are stereotypical to the sections they portray.
